National Hug Day

January 21 is National Hug Day. Not only is hugging a sense of compassion or love, but it is also good for your health.Fox News had an article that indeed it could save your life.

“There’s an underlying scientific explanation for the seemingly magical qualities of a hug that these researchers uncovered. Each time we hug, we increase the level of oxytocin in the blood. This hormone is known as the bonding hormone because it triggers a “caring” response in both men and women. Oxytocin stimulates contractions of the uterus during labor and the release of milk during breast-feeding, so we literally learn to depend on it in the womb.” Fox News

Hugs are freely given in our family. My daughter is the “hugging queen.” While working at the computer, Alissa opens her arms wide and taps me on the shoulder awaiting me to stop and let her get her hourly hug. If I keep typing, the tapping continues until I stop and share that needed comfort, after all, we both get a big smile out of it. I truly would miss that hug if she stopped.

So stop, share a hug today! Put a smile on someone’s face.

“A Hug Is Two Hearts Wrapped In Arms”

“Hold a friend’s hand through times of trial, let her find love through a hug and a smile; but also know when it is time to let go-for every one of us must learn to grow.”

“There are moments in your life when you really miss someone that you want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real. Hope you dream of that someone.”

“If you’re alone, I’ll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I’ll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I’ll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I’ll be your smile. But anytime you need a friend, I’ll just be me”

“The best gift you can give is a hug: one size fits all and no one ever minds if you return it”
